"Our Land, Our Life, Our People"

The documentary film, "Our Land, Our Life, Our People: Navajo Environmental Justice" will hopefully be posted on this page soon. The film explores the work of Dine Citizens Against Ruining Our Environment (CARE), a Navajo environmental justice group that is currently campaigning against a proposed coal-fired power plant on their reservation. I directed, edited, and produced the film, and it is a work in progress. However, I would like to share this documentary with others in order to spread the message of Dine CARE and other Navajo organizations who are fighting not only for their environment, but their economy, culture, and entire way of life. The film also explores other issues pertinent to indigeous rights:
  • Landfill development on native lands
  • Deforestation and clear-cutting of old growth forests
  • Uranium mining and its effects on indigenous miners

Please be patient as the film will most likely take a week or so to be uploaded onto the site. In the meantime, I'll be updating you on the most recent environmental and indigenous topics.

Peace, T

Indigenous Environmental Justice

Welcome to the Indigenous Environmental Justice blog. This is a space for dialogue among activists, community members, students, scholars, and anyone else who is interested in indigenous rights and the environment. I intend to make this blog as available to the public as possible, in the hopes of creating an open environment in which people can discuss their views on environmental justice and indigenous rights.
